Adele Just Said ‘Hello’ To One Of Taylor Swift’s Records

They’ve never openly feuded or anything, but Adele isn’t high on our list of probable guest stars for Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour right now.

That rare Swifty b-face came courtesy of the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, just after Adele snagged the prize for Best Original Motion Picture Song for “Skyfall” over Taylor Swift’s somber “Hunger Games” tune “Safe and Sound.” And now, it’s all we can think about as we learn that Adele has officially dethroned Tay from her shiny Vevo throne as the Single-Day View Queen.
“Hello,” Adele’s first single from her upcoming album 25, due on shelves Nov. 20, debuted online last Thursday (Oct. 22), and within 24 hours the video had been viewed 27.7 million times, toppling Taylor’s “Bad Blood” single-day record of 20.1 million views.

Taylor previously snapped up the top Vevo spot from Nicki Minaj, whose “Anaconda” garnered 19.6 million, and before that the record belong to Miley Cyrus for her 19.3 million “Wrecking Ball” views on debut day.
But there’s still plenty of reasons for Tay to keep right on smiling, of course, because her “Wildest Dreams” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Pop Songs chart for this week, making 1989 the second album to nab five No. 1 singles — after Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream.” (The other singles to reach No. 1 from 1989 were “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” “Style,” and “Bad Blood.”)
Not to mention, Tay’s still the proud owner of the most-viewed Vevo vid of all time with “Blank Space” and its 1.2 billion views. So, you know, she can shake this one off.
