Last month, ‘Ye debuted his Yeezy Season 2 line at New York Fashion Week, even premiering a new track in the process. The collection arrives in stores this Thursday (Oct. 29), and ahead of its release, he’s given us the “Yeezy Season 2 Film,” a behind-the-scenes look at how the line came to fruition.
- But in true Kanye fashion, there’s a creatively intriguing catch: the
20-minute long mini-doc is completely silent (a script at the top of
the clip graciously warns you right off the bat: “This documentation has
no sound”). Nevertheless, the vid is really quite stunning, and the
lack of sound actually lets you focus and engage more with the media.
-
We see the collection’s blueprints all planned out.
- And there are a lot of shots of the industrial workspaces and offices where the line was created.
-
For much of the clip, we only see the back of Kanye’s head — never his face.
-
The tone of the film is really quite bleak, which is ultimately fitting for the minimalist collection.
-
Here’s the master at work.
-
We also see a lot of close-ups of machines.
-
A model shows off one of the fierce designs.
-
And there are plenty of tight shots of people working and creating with their hands.
-
Kanye’s stylists make sure the clothes fit just right.
-
We even see the technical designs being mapped out on computers (so much detail!).
-
It looks there were plenty of long, sleepless nights…

…which you can see from this shot of Ye catching some Z’s.

Here, we see the collection’s long-sleeved camo shirts being manufactured.

And here’s a neat close-up of the “YEEZY” print.

Finally, it’s the day of the show. Here’s a look at the all-seeing control room.

-
The stage is all prepped and set, and the audience is seated.

-
Backstage, the camera catches Kanye standing calmly in front of a screen as people rush all around him.

-
We see the dark-colored designs first…

-
… and then the nude and camel tones (hey, Kylie!).
- Yeezy.Supply
-
Kanye bops his head up and down in this part of the clip, clearly happy with what he sees.

-
Briefly, the film rewinds to him looking contemplative in a room by himself.

-
But then it cuts back to the night of the show, as he heads onstage to face the crowd.
- Yeezy.Supply
-
He stands among his work, grinning and bowing.

-
And then he returns backstage with a huge smile plastered across his face.

-
And as people congratulate and clap for him, he looks ultimately relieved — but positively proud.
In light of that, let’s take a look at some of the most beautiful frames from the short film:
